This shorter Manaslu Circuit itinerary starts from Machha Khola and gradually climbs through Jagat, Deng, Namrung and Samagaon. After an acclimatization day in Samagaon, the trail continues to Samdo and Dharamsala before the demanding crossing of Larkya La. The route then descends through Bimthang and ends around Tilje, where road transport connects with Besisahar. The trek combines remote mountain scenery with the Tibetan-influenced culture of the Manaslu region.
Drive from Kathmandu toward Machha Khola, following the hills and river valleys through rural Nepal. The road gradually becomes rougher as you enter the Manaslu region and follow the Budhi Gandaki Valley.
Begin the trek along the Budhi Gandaki River. The trail passes through Khorlabesi, Tatopani, waterfalls and suspension bridges before reaching Jagat, the main entry point toward the restricted Manaslu region.
The trail climbs gradually through forests and mountain villages. Cross several suspension bridges and continue through Philim and other settlements before reaching Deng, where the landscape begins to feel more alpine.
Continue through pine and fir forests along the Budhi Gandaki. As you approach Namrung, Tibetan-influenced villages, mani walls and prayer flags become more common, while views of the surrounding peaks start to open up.
Walk through Lho and other mountain settlements with increasingly impressive views of Manaslu. The trail continues toward Samagaon, one of the largest villages in the upper Manaslu Valley.
Take a rest and acclimatization day in Samagaon. You can take a short hike toward Birendra Lake or explore the village and nearby monastery while preparing for the higher elevations ahead.
The trail follows the upper Budhi Gandaki Valley toward Samdo. The landscape becomes increasingly dry and open, with mountain peaks and high pastures surrounding the route.
Continue toward Dharamsala, also known as Larkya Phedi. This is the final overnight stop before crossing Larkya La, so the afternoon is generally spent resting and preparing for the early start.
Start early for the biggest day of the trek. The trail climbs over rocky and sometimes snowy terrain to Larkya La Pass at 5,106 m. From the pass, descend toward Bimthang while enjoying wide views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and glaciers.
Leave the high mountain landscape behind and descend through pine and rhododendron forests. The trail continues toward Tilje, where the environment becomes greener and warmer.
Complete the final trekking section toward Dharapani and continue by road toward Besisahar. After days in the mountains, the lower valley feels noticeably warmer and more developed.
Drive from Besisahar back to Kathmandu. The journey follows the river valleys and hills before returning to the Kathmandu Valley, marking the end of the Manaslu Circuit Trek.
