Trishuli
Two days of white water and a night camped on a river beach — and it happens on the road you were driving anyway.

The Trishuli runs alongside the Kathmandu–Pokhara highway, which is the neat trick of this trip: you raft the river instead of watching it out of a bus window, and still end up where you were going.
Warm, forgiving water with enough rapids to be a proper day out and few enough to be fine for people who have never held a paddle. The night is spent camping on a white sand beach with dinner cooked over a fire — for a lot of people that turns out to be the best part.
Beginners, families with older children, and anyone who fancies two days off their feet. You do not need to be a strong swimmer, but you do need to be comfortable in water.
If you have rafted before and want something more serious, ask about the Kali Gandaki: three days of continuous white water through a gorge with no road anywhere near it.
September to early December, with high clear water after the monsoon, is the classic window. March to May is warmer and lower.

A morning drive out of the valley to the put-in, safety briefing and paddle practice, then the first half day on the water. Camp on a sand beach with dinner over a fire.

Breakfast on the sand and a second morning of rapids, then out at the take-out and on to Pokhara by road for the evening.
